What is a Family Nurse Practitioner?

Family nurse practitioners are nurses with advanced education and training who can diagnose and treat a wide range of health issues for both adults and children including writing prescriptions, as needed. These providers must first complete the education and training necessary to be a registered nurse and then go on to earn a Master's or Doctorate degree in advanced nursing practice.

Additionally, Family nurse practitioners are required to pass a national board certification in their area of specialty. They have a thorough background in family healthcare, including pediatric training and expertise.

What is a Physician Assistant?
