Placing an Order
- Can I order online at Walgreens and get my Pickup order at the store?
Yes! Our Pickup service makes it easy to shop your local store online at Walgreens.com or with the Walgreens App, then pick up your order in as little as 30 minutes.*
For your convenience, you can get both your Pickup order and your prescriptions at the pharmacy. Get your prescriptions even faster when you prepay with Walgreens Express.
*For Walgreens store locations that are not open 24 hours, orders must be placed at least one hour prior to store closing in order to be eligible. Otherwise, order will be ready the following business day. Customer will be notified via email when order is ready for pickup and will be provided instructions for a drive-up experience that complies with social distancing guidelines. Orders are not guaranteed to be ready within the 30-minute time window and may be subject to change or substitution depending on product availability at the time order is placed. Orders with age-restricted items may only be picked up in store. Yes! You can add an alternate pickup person when placing your order.
- Can I choose some items for Pickup and have others shipped?
Yes, you can pick up items and ship others in the same transaction. Your Pickup order will be ready the same day or next day if your order is placed an hour before closing time, or if the store is already closed for the evening. Shipped orders will arrive several business days later.
- How long will it take for my order to be ready?
Your order will be ready in as little as 30 minutes, unless your order is placed an hour before closing time or the store is already closed for the evening—in that case your order will be ready the next day. We'll send an Order Is Ready for Pickup notification via email or text to let you know when it's ready.
- How do I place an order for Pickup?
It's easy! Shop online at Walgreens.com or use the Walgreens App. Make sure to select the right store to pick up your order before completing your purchase.
- Can I purchase my Rx with Retail Products?
Ready prescriptions can be added to your Pickup order and you can pay for everything in your cart in the same order. For your convenience, you can get both your Pickup order and your prescriptions at the pharmacy or drive-thru. Curbside options are available in select states†. Please be aware that some larger retail items may not fit through the drive-thru window. In those locations, you can receive your order in store, at the pharmacy, or curbside if available in your state†.
Program Details
- How does Pickup at Walgreens work?
Choose your store and shop products on Walgreens.com or the Walgreens App. Then choose to pick up curbside, at the drive-thru or in store. It's easy: Shop online, wait for your Order Is Ready for Pickup notification via email or text, then visit the store and tap the "I'm here" button in the email or text link to let us know. A team member will bring the order to you.
- Which items are eligible for Pickup at Walgreens?
Most store items are eligible for our Pickup service. Excluded items include tobacco, non-denominated gift cards, items containing pseudoephedrine, select assortments, magazines, newspapers and any item sold exclusively online and is not available at stores.
- Is there a fee for Pickup?
While there is no additional fee for Pickup, you must reach a $10 minimum estimated subtotal at time of checkout (after promo codes and paperless coupons are applied and excluding tax) to qualify.
- Which stores offer Pickup?
Pickup service is available at most Walgreens stores. However, our specialty pharmacies will not offer this service.
- Can I order retail items when I schedule my COVID-19 test appointment and pick up the order from the store during the appointment?
Yes, but you'll need to place the order at least 30 minutes before your appointment and within 72 hours of when it will be ready. Make sure it's the same location.
- How can I return Pickup items?
Pickup items can only be returned at the store's photo counter. Returns cannot be taken through the drive-thru window.
Please do not return Store Pickup items by mail. Any returns of Store Pickup items received by mail will not be refunded.
- Can I track the progress of my order in case it's ready sooner than 30 minutes?
Yes, we'll send you an email (or text if you opt in) to confirm your order. We'll also notify you when it's ready for pickup, and if your order has been delayed or canceled.
- Is there a limit to the number of items I can order?
The number of items that can be purchased in an order is unlimited. However, large orders may take more than 30 minutes to process. There may also be an order limit on specific items.
- Can I use coupons when I place my order?
Digital or paperless coupons can only be redeemed when you place your online order. Paper coupons are not accepted when you pick up at the store.
- Can I call to place my order if I don't have internet access and can't use Walgreens.com or the Walgreens App?
Yes, you can call the store and follow the prompts to place your Pickup order over the phone with Customer Service. Then you'll be notified when your order is ready for pickup. You can also call Customer Service directly at 877-250-5823 to place your order.
- Can I use Pickup if I don't have a smartphone?
Yes! Just call the store when you arrive and let us know you're here to pick up your order at the curbside or drive-thru. Make sure to bring your ID or a printed copy of your Order Is Ready for Pickup email to verify your order.
- When is payment made?
Walgreens puts a hold in the amount of your estimated order total on your credit card used for payment. Payment is finalized on the credit card when the order is picked up and will reflect the actual order total.
Pickup Process
- How will I know when my Pickup order is ready?
You'll be notified via email or text when your order is ready for pickup with instructions on how to pick up your order. If you opted in to receive text messages you will also receive a text when your order is ready.
- What happens if I don't pick up my order in time?
You have 72 hours to pick up your order from the time your Order Is Ready for Pickup notification email or text is sent. Don't worry, you'll receive two reminders first. If your order still isn't picked up after 72 hours then it will be canceled.
- Can a family member or friend pick up my order?
Yes! You can add an alternate person to get your Pickup order.
- How can I get my Pickup order?
Our pickup options include curbside, drive-thru and in store at the photo counter. We’ll let you know in your ready for pickup email or text what options are available for your order. Age restricted items (e.g. alcohol) must be picked up in store.
- How long will you hold my order?
You'll have 72 hours to pick up your order from the time your Order Is Ready for Pickup notification email or text is sent. Your order won't be charged to your credit card until it's picked up. Orders will be canceled after 72 hours.
- Can I pick up my order at the drive-thru?
If your store has a drive-thru then you can pick up most items there. Larger items that may not fit through the drive-thru drawer will need to be picked up curbside or in store. Orders containing age-restricted items can only be picked up inside the store at the photo counter.
- What hours is Pickup available?
You can pick up curbside 9am–9pm, at the drive-thru during pharmacy hours, and in store between regular store hours.
- What do I need to pick up my order?
You'll need to provide your Order Is Ready for Pickup email or text to confirm your purchase.
- What is the process of picking up my order?
Just wait until you receive an Order Is Ready for Pickup email or text then head to the store.
- How does curbside pickup work?
After we send your Order Is Ready for Pickup email or text, simply head to the store and park in a designated Pickup parking spot. Tap the "I'm here" button in your notification email or text link to let us know you've arrived. You can also access this link via text message if you opt in; click the link for Pickup options and choose "curbside." Then provide your vehicle details and tap "submit." We'll bring your order to your vehicle shortly; if possible, please have your trunk or hatch open so the team member can easily deliver your order without contact. If you don't see a curbside option then you may have arrived after this service has ended for the day, or your order may include age-restricted items that require you to pick it up inside the store. Curbside pickup hours are 9am–9pm.
- What if the curbside pickup spot is already full?
Just park near the spot and a team member will find you. When you tap "I'm here," we'll ask for your vehicle details so we can locate you even if you aren't in the curbside pickup spot.
- How does drive-thru pickup work?
Check your Order is Ready for Pickup email or text and make sure the store allows for drive-thru pickup. When you arrive, tap the "I'm here" button in the email or text link. This helps the team member have it ready when you approach the drive-thru window. Please make sure to use the drive-thru lane closest to the store to pick up your order rather than an outer lane with the tube delivery system.
- How does in-store pickup work?
Visit the Photo counter and let a team member know that you have a Pickup order and show them your Order Is Ready for Pickup email or text.
- How will I receive my receipt?
Paper receipts may not automatically print when you pick up your order. A receipt can be found on your Walgreens.com account, or in the email that is sent once you pick up your order. If you would prefer a paper receipt, please ask the Team Member assisting you before they process your order.
Cancellations & Issues
- Can I cancel my Pickup order at Walgreens?
Yes, please call the store to cancel your order.
- What happens if an item in my order is out of stock?
If you indicated that you're okay with substitutions during online checkout, the store will do its best to find an item from the same brand in a similar size. You will not be charged more than the cost of your original item. If the substitute costs less, you will be charged the lesser amount. You may receive a call from the store to ask if an alternate brand or product meets your needs instead. If you choose not to accept substitutions, then the item will be marked out of stock. Any substituted or out-of-stock items will be indicated in your Order Is Ready for Pickup email.
- How can I return items from a Store Pickup order?
Returns for items from a Store Pickup order will only be accepted at a store. Please do not return by mail. Any returns shipped by mail will not be refunded.
Pricing & Promotions
- Can I get in-store deals and promotional offers on my Pickup order?
Yes, as long as your myWalgreens account is linked to your Walgreens.com account. Most store promotions are automatically included with your order, but digital or paperless coupons must be clipped to your account to be applied to your Pickup order at online checkout.
- Can I apply coupons, promotions and discounts to my Pickup order?
Yes! You can apply online coupons, promotions and discounts to your Pickup order at online checkout.
- Can I earn myWalgreens Cash rewards on my order?
Yes! You can earn myWalgreens Cash rewards on Pickup orders.
- Can I redeem myWalgreens Cash rewards on my Pickup order?
Yes! myWalgreens Cash rewards can be redeemed on Pickup orders at online checkout.
- Can I redeem a paper manufacturer coupon when I pick up my order at the store?
No, paper coupons cannot be redeemed on Pickup orders, only digital coupons added at time of order placement are accepted.
